We often don’t even bother helping others at all.
Reference: Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. (Psalm 6:4 NIV)
Explore: There are incredible stories of Good Samaritans – strangers who come to someone’s aid because they can see they are in need.
I try to go out of my way for my friends. I know what they would appreciate and how I can be of best assistance. However, to go out of your way for a stranger is a truly selfless act.
You never know how you will be received and the last thing you intend to do is offend someone. And so, we often don’t even bother helping others at all.
However there are the rare few who put aside all their reservations and give of themselves anyway. Not because the person is a friend or well-known or rich or remarkable, but because they are in need.
Application: The psalmist writes of a time of need and I respect the humility of the writer. They call out to God for assistance.
Not because they are worthy, not because of their accomplishments, and not because of their worldly appeal.
We call on God, not because of what we have to offer, but because God has unfailing love. He is above and beyond all we could ever hope to be, and yet, He is willing to draw close to us to help us out.
Prayer: Lord, we cry out to You because Your love is unfailing. We praise You by declaring Your love is unfailing. We follow You to replicate Your love that’s unfailing. Amen.
What do you need God’s unfailing love for?
