Your Testimony

Let's face it, surely your siblings are going to be the hardest people to persuade that you are the Son of God.

1 Corinthians 15:1-58

Reference:  v.7  Then he (Jesus) appeared to James, then to all the apostles… (NIV Bible)

Explore:  Each believer comes to know Jesus through various means.  Some people may have grown up in a religious family, some may have had friends who shared their faith or some may have had an outstanding supernatural experience.  There are many pathways that lead to God.  For the James mentioned here in this passage, he was actually related to Jesus.  James was Jesus' brother.  I've heard Andy Stanley, a pastor from the States, say that this is a great confirmation for him that Jesus really was the Messiah.  Because let's face it, surely your siblings are going to be the hardest people to persuade that you are the Son of God.  "Sure, sure, I know that you're Mum's favourite but that doesn't make you God's gift to the world!"  Can you imagine trying to tell your brothers or sisters that you are someone special?  And yet James, Jesus' brother, was a great leader in the early church, advocating Jesus as the Messiah.

Application:  The way we connect with God is our testimony.  If we have the courage to share our connection with our Saviour then we can help other people to see that God desires to connect with them too.  It doesn't have to be a lightening bolt moment to be significant.  In whatever way we experience the love and grace of our Redeemer is a powerful example that we can share with others.  Remind yourself about how it is that God has connected with you and have the courage to share it with someone else.

Prayer:  Lord, You desire to be in relationship with us.  May we not turn our backs on You but be open to You as You draw near.  Amen.

How has God connected with you?  Who can you share that with this week?
