I’m not sure He even has any growth areas!
Reference: “he builds his lofty palace in the heavens and sets its foundation on the earth; he calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land— the Lord is his name.” Amos 9:6 NIV
Explore: Primary school students are not silly and they often show this in very blunt ways.
When picking a sporting team they will always go for the quickest people in the class. When picking a times table team they will always go for the best mathematical people in the class.
They quickly identify where people’s strengths lie and endorse those capabilities when they need them most.
We all have strengths and areas of growth. The lines may become a little more blurred as we get older but we also get wiser as to what people’s strengths really are.
Application: There is no doubt that when it comes to God, He has some very clear strengths. In fact, I’m not sure He even has any growth areas!
If someone was to tell you God was unhappy with you and was planning on using His power to take you down, you’d certainly start reconsidering your life choices! And yet God’s people in the Old Testament were often instructed of God’s disappointment in them and so often they refused to change.
It seems we may not be able to tell someone else’s strength as well as we thought!
Let us not forget God’s incredible strength and power in all things. We can sometimes be just as stubborn as the people in the Old Testament.
When we feel God promoting us in a certain direction, let’s take note and work to our strength – our relationship with God.
Prayer: Lord, You are our strength. May we always choose You first in every single day. Amen.
How can you draw on God’s strength today?
