Your Bill’s Been Paid

The other night we went out for dinner as a whole family. As my husband went up to the counter to pay he saw a friend at another table. They stopped and had a quick chat but he didn’t take them away from their dinner conversation for long.
When he returned from the cashier he had not only paid for our meal but also the meal of our friend and her table.
Our friend was so surprised and appreciative.
I love that my husband looks for opportunities to be generous. They don’t come up every day but when they do arise he is quick to grab hold of them.
This is something I need to continue to work on. I enjoy being generous but my mind is often slow in getting there. It’s not until the opportunity has passed by that I realise I could have made a difference.
God has given each of us resources and talents we can use to bless other people. He never dictates when we should use those things. That’s up to us.
May we be the type of person who is quick to give and willing to release our hold on what we own.
Lord, all good things come from you. May we willingly and generously share what we have with others. Amen.
