Your Back Is Strong

A friend of mine recently had surgery on his back. When he attended physiotherapy the next week the physiotherapist noticed that he was walking very awkwardly.
She did a quick assessment and then told him two things:
  1. Your back is strong
  2. There’s no snakes in the grass
When my friend questioned her, particularly on number 2, she explained that he was walking around so gingerly it was creating tension in the rest of his body and not helping his back. But his back was strong and he needed to have greater confidence in it.
What a great analogy to our faith in God. He is strong. He will never let us down. Instead of walking around gingerly we need to live in the confidence He will always be there.
Let’s not walk so gingerly that we look like we’re living in fear. But stride confidently into every element God has called us to.
Lord, may I have the confidence to rely on You in all things. Amen.
How can you show greater confidence in God?
