You Look Beautiful

But do you know what my husband says?

Psalm 36:1-12

Reference: “How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭36:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: Nearing the end of my third trimester I am feeling less than amazing. While I am still incredibly grateful and thankful for this little miracle growing within me, I am feeling things I wasn’t anticipating.

I look puffy, my feet are swollen and I regularly lose feeling in my hands. The large stomach is really the least of my worries!

But do you know what my husband says? “You look beautiful!”

While I don’t feel beautiful, my wonderful husband is constantly telling me how beautiful he sees that I am. Instead of him looking at the negative parts of me, he is able to see the beauty in his child growing within me.

It is a good reminder that while I may not feel very glamorous, there is something quite miraculous happening within me.

Application: There are times when we can feel so down within ourselves that we only see negative things. Life can be challenging, but there is always some good things around us.

In Psalm 36 I can hear the writer dealing with some great challenges in his life. But he does not stop there. He looks at God and sees some amazing beauty.

The words he writes of God’s love and righteousness and protection have now brought comfort to millions of people throughout the years. When we take the time to find the positive in our situation we can really make a difference in our world.

Prayer: Lord, You are the positive in all our situations. When we are down may we look to You for comfort and joy. Amen.

What is something positive in your life at the moment?
