Worries Of The Past

I wish they were my concerns now.

Luke 12:22-34

Reference: Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! (‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭24‬ NIV)

Explore: This Luke 12 passage used to be my favourite verse in the Bible, which I find quite amusing now. It’s about God providing for us and not needing to worry.

I look back at the time this was my favourite verse and I wish they were my concerns now. They were about study and relationships and being accepted.

When I compare them to my current concerns, they seem minuscule. Now my concerns are about mortgage repayments, parenting children and work-life balance.

While, to me, these seem like much greater concerns, this verse was a good reminder to me. No matter how small our concern, God hears us and looks after us.

He provides for us and tells us not to worry.

Application: So, whatever your concerns may be, don’t feel they are too small to give to God. When we hand them to the Creator, then we trust Him to make a positive change in our lives.

My concerns as a student don’t seem so major now, but they were major to me then. And if they’re major to me, God is interested.

It’s amazing how easily we hold our concerns. And yet, when we hand them over to God we give Him the chance to make a difference with them.

Prayer: Lord, I can often be filled with worry. I hand today’s concerns over to You. Amen.

What stress do you need to hand to God today?
