This was not really the type of conversation I like to have over 140 characters or less!
Reference: He said to them, “Do you still not understand?” (Mark 8:21 TNIV)
Explore: I recently had a friend text me with a very big question:
“Why does God allow a baby die intrauterine the day before delivery?”
This was not really the type of conversation I like to have over 140 characters or less! However, many people have these types of questions and it’s not always possible to wait until we’re face to face to flesh them out.
My friend is still a fairly new Christian, but I knew she was surrounded by non-believers and needed the confidence to know what to say. So I did my best to respond.
I mentioned that it was by humans fall that sin, pain and death came into our world. However, at this time, the most important thing is to BE Christ and just show love rather than trying to explain things away.
Application: There are times in our lives when we experience big questions. Sometimes we find answers, but sometimes it’s just a matter of living in the faith that God has it all in His hands.
It is important to be open to have the discussions with others about their thoughts, but the loudest answer is when we live out God’s love rather than talk about it.
Even the 12 disciples didn’t have all the answers, and they literally walked side by side with Jesus, but that didn’t mean that He rejected them or gave up on them.
As we continue to explore our faith we learn more about God and ourselves.
Prayer: Lord, give us the wisdom to learn more about You and the ability to share Your Love with others. Amen.
How do you work through big questions?
