Weather The Storm
Today was one of those typical Melbourne Spring days. One minute the sky was fairly clear with just a few high clouds floating about. The next minute the whole world turned dim as grey clouds rolled in and dumped buckets of rain upon the earth.
Everyone ran for cover and tried to get out of the deluge. You could see the sheets of rain pouring down and bouncing off anything it hit. Rain pellets bounced off the pavement and branches become weighed down just trying to hold all the falling water.
And then, almost as quickly as it arrived, the rain stopped and the sun came out. You would almost think the rain had not even been there except for the puddles on the ground and the droplets that still covered the plants.
As the sun shone brightly it revealed a diamond world alive with glistening raindrops and bright light streaming through the gaps in the trees. What was once dark and gloomy was now bright and sparkly.
Just like a Spring storm we never know when things will change in our own lives. One minute everything seems fine and wonderful, then the next minute you’re dealing with gloom and grief. That is the reality of life.
Sometimes we are wrongly led to believe that if you believe in God then every day is a perfect Summer’s day. And if it isn’t then you don’t have enough faith! But my faith-filled days are more like a Melbourne Spring day… Constantly changing.
Thankfully God is bigger than our changeable lives. And He gave us a great example of how to weather the storm through Jesus.
Jesus’ situation was not always perfect but he stayed the course and reflected upon God at every change.
Let’s not be blown down by our world that changes with the seasons. But let’s weather the storms so that no matter what the situation we can still see God.
Lord, thank You for being there for us in every occasion. Help us to turn to You no matter what our world brings. Amen.
What type of season are you going through at the moment?
