I knew his eternal destination was not bound to his expertise.
Reference: “No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.” 1 Corinthians 2:7 NIV
Explore: I recently went into hospital for surgery under general anaesthetic. When I went back to see the specialist he told me something quite surprising.
Just before they started operating the anaesthetist told the surgeon if he did anything wrong he’d end up in hell because I was a minister! I openly laughed when he told me this.
While I was certainly glad he’d done a good job, I knew his eternal destination was not bound to his expertise.
Application: It’s funny how people will often attach judgement to their behaviour around religious people. When really we should be sharing the abundance of grace they would receive from God, not an instant desire for eternal damnation.
God actually desires for good things for us. 1 Corinthians 2 talks about God’s love for us and wanting the best for us. We often look to God when things go wrong, but maybe we should be quicker to look to God when things are going well.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the good You bring into our lives. May we look to You for all things good and pleasant. Amen.
What good has God brought into your life?
