She hasn’t missed a lesson
Reference: On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. (Genesis 22:4 NIV)
Explore: A colleague’s daughter has recently gone for hip surgery. While she’s only 15 her whole life has been about dancing, but the hip surgery was necessary.
I expressed concern that she must be struggling with not being able to dance at this time, but my colleague surprised me.
“She hasn’t missed a lesson,” he said. “Even when she was on crutches she would go to the class to watch and learn.”
I couldn’t believe it. This teenager was so passionate and committed to dance that she attended class even when she couldn’t contribute. I was inspired by her dedication and her willingness to give everything she could at the time.
Application: Abraham is another person who inspires me with his commitment and dedication. Even when he had everything to lose, he still followed God.
God asked him to sacrifice his beloved son and he showed obedience and trust.
I’d love to say I was as committed as Abraham and my colleague’s daughter, but I often find I fall short. However, I’m inspired by these people.
I’m encouraged to love when I’m tired, be patient when I’m wrung out, and to offer grace even when I’m broken.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for bringing people and stories into my life to show me Your character. May I learn from them and be inspired to be more like You. Amen.
Whose story has inspired you?
