Useless Information

His useless facts and figures flow frequently especially when we are  socialising with friends.

Luke 20:1-8

Reference:  v.7  So they answered, “We don’t know where it was from.” (NIV Bible)

Explore:  My husband has a head full of information.  Some of this information is very helpful and has regularly assisted me in various situations.  However, a great deal of this information stored in my husband’s head is absolutely useless!  The reason I know how much useless information my husband has in his head is that he is more than willing to share this “knowledge” at any possible opportunity.  His useless facts and figures flow frequently especially when we are socialising with friends.  The problem I have is that when I ask my husband a question he will always have an answer.  I then have to try to discern whether this is in fact useful knowledge or whether he is just making something up based on his copious amounts of useless information!  After falling for his useless information on a number of issues I now realise that as brilliant as my husband is, he doesn’t actually know ALL the answers.

Application:  There are many questions in our lives that don’t yet have answers.  There are some situations where we dont get a simple answer or even an easy one.  In the gospels we see that Jesus wasn’t afraid to address the difficult questions of the time, but that even when he did, many people still did not understand.  I know there are things on this earth that I will never understand.  That does not mean that I just give up on exploring all the questions but it does mean that I rely more heavily on my faith in God.  While I may question my husband’s knowledge I believe that God knows all things.  He doesn’t always reveal his wisdom to me but I know that He provides me with everything I need.

Prayer:  Lord, be near to us in our exploration of our questions.  Help us to see Your wisdom in every new discovery.  Amen.

What are some questions that you are exploring at the moment?  Ask God for understanding.
