Up-Front Payment

When we go away I feel like I constantly have my wallet out

Hebrews 7:11-28

Reference:  v.25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. (NIV Bible)

Explore:  I really love going on holidays but the only down side is money.  As I am rather frugal with my finances I always feel guilty for spending money, and holidays are notoriously expensive.  When you're on holidays you tend to spend more on food and more on petrol, as well as paying for extra activities. When we go away I feel like I constantly have my wallet out paying a little bit here and another bit there.  It can quickly add up to a significant amount.  One of the best holidays I went on was a trip with my husband to Daydream Island.  Not only was I with my wonderful partner, not only did we stay in a gorgeous resort but what made it an even better holiday for me was that we had paid for everything up-front.  Before we had even left for holidays we had all our travel, accommodation, activities and most of our food paid for.  It was fun, relaxing and I didn't have to stress about money.  It had all been covered.

Application:  When it comes to our spiritual side not only have all our sins been paid for up-front but it wasn't even us who paid the bill!  When Jesus walked on this earth he came to save people from their sins.  He died on the cross so that all our sins, from all of humanity, would be covered.  Jesus is like the resort when it comes to forgiving our sins.  He doesn't have to keep getting out His wallet time and time again to pay a sacrifice for all the times we turn from God.  No, Jesus has paid the price for us once and for all.  He died on the cross as an up-front payment so that whenever we stray from God's will we can ask for forgiveness and know that it's already been covered.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, thank you for the sacrifice You made for us all.  May we rejoice in Your up-front payment and strive to live according to God's desires.  Amen.

Jesus has already covered the price for your sin.  What do you need forgiveness for?
