The Unseen

Although they had gone unseen, others had been pivotal in making his powerful speech effective.

Psalm 77:1-20

Reference: Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen. (‭Psalm‬ ‭77‬:‭19‬ NIV)

Explore: The CEO of our company recently spoke to a room full of politicians in our Capital city. He spoke passionately about assisting people living in poverty with disabilities.

Back at the office he was commended for his speech and the opportunity it opened up for our organisation. But what spoke more profoundly to me was his response to that praise.

He acknowledged those who had worked hard to allow the event to happen, to those who had built the relationships to open the door for our organisation to have a voice and to the gentleman who had actually written the speech he was able to deliver. Our CEO displayed humility as he acknowledged that, although they had gone unseen, others had been pivotal in making his powerful speech effective.

Application: It takes many people to accomplish a big task. Some of those are in the limelight but many are hidden from view.

No one task is greater than the other, but some are more obvious.

The Psalmist acknowledges that this is often the case for God. He opens doorways for us, He grants us wisdom, and He gives us the courage, and yet, He often goes unnoticed.

It’s good to learn from the psalmist, as well as my CEO. To acknowledge those who go unnoticed and reflect on where God has been present in the journey.

Prayer: Lord, You are in all and through all. May we not forget to acknowledge You in our every day comings and goings. Amen.

Where has God been present in your journey lately?
