Trying To Impress

It is hard not to let the people around us influence our behaviour.

Hosea 7:1-16

Reference: ““They delight the king with their wickedness, the princes with their lies.” ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭7:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: We’ve all done it! We see someone we would like to impress and we slightly change our behaviour.

It might have been the cute girl at school, the most popular colleague or even the boss when they enter the room.

It is hard not to let the people around us influence our behaviour.

Application: If we are aware of God’s presence in our lives then it is He whom we should strive to live for. And acknowledging He is always there, our behaviour should be consistent – no matter who else is present.

To be honest, I am so swayed by other people’s presence that I don’t even notice I’m changing for them.

Let’s keep our eyes so fixed on God that it is only His opinion we are seeking.

Prayer: Lord, forgive us when we change for other people. May our lives be carried out with such integrity that we live for You no matter who else is present. Amen.

Who do you tend to change your behaviour for?
