The Time Is Now

“You’d never hand it in if you waited until you’d done everything.”

Ezekiel 12:1-28

Explore: While I value my education, I was so pleased once I had completed studies. Writing essays and studying for exams just wasn’t my thing.

I remember talking to an older friend of mine on the due date of an assignment. I must have been whinging about the short amount of time we had been given to complete the task, and how I felt there was still so much I could do.

She simply replied, “You’d never hand it in if you waited until you’d done everything.”

While I’m a big believer in doing a decent job, my friend was right. If there wasn’t a deadline then I’d never complete a task.

Application: Often we take this stance with the actions of our faith too. Before we start telling others about Christ we want to know that we have all the answers.

My understanding is that we’ll never know all there is to know about God, and so, time and time again, people are stagnant in their faith because they are waiting until everything is in order.

That’s not how God works. When He sent Ezekiel to warn His people they defended themselves by saying that his warnings were for a different time. But God heard them and was quick to correct them.

His message was for them then, and I think it’s true for us now. Don’t hold yourself back from doing what God has called you to.

There is never a greater time for you to live for Him than now. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect – that will not happen this side of heaven – but decide to start today!

Prayer: Lord, we can find so many things to distract us from living for You. Give us Your courage and wisdom to start today. Amen.
