I believe in God our Father
I believe in Christ the Son
I believe in the Holy Spirit
Our God is three in one
I believe in the resurrection
That we will rise again
For I believe in the name of Jesus – This I Believe, Hillsong
Growing up in the Reformed church, we would recite the Apostles Creed quite often. As a child it was just something I followed along in a book and was quite proud when I nearly knew it off by heart.
Earlier this year I was going through a really tough time. I came to church searching for meaning and direction and the worship team lead us in the song above – Hillsong’s adaptation of the Apostle’s Creed.
While it didn’t answer all my questions, it reminded me of who I believe in and restored my hope for whatever the future may hold. Just proclaiming my belief in God brought me confidence in dealing with the future.
Application: The writer of Psalm 140 was clearly going through an incredibly tough time. And halfway through his psalm he declares, “You are my God.”
The declaration we make with our mouths can impact our present. Are we declaring that life is too hard? Or are we declaring that we worship the Creator of the Universe?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are Lord in our life. I believe in You today and that my future is in Your hands. Amen.
What are you declaring today?
