There’s Something In The Water

It is clear to see that there is something different going on beneath the surface.

Ezekiel 47:1-23

Reference: Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. (Ezekiel 47:9 NIV)

Explore: Over Summer our block of land has dried up quite considerably. Some of the plants have not survived and the grass is all brown. That is, except for a patch in the middle of the block.

Right in the middle of our property there is a lush patch of vibrant green grass. It is long and healthy and vibrant.
Surrounded by the rest of the dry landscape, this patch of grass stands out. It is clear to see that there is something different going on beneath the surface.

In fact, this spot is the gravel pit where our grey water finishes up. The water travels down from the house and flows out into this spot on our property. And the vegetation around this pit is very happy about it.

Application: While it is clear to see the path of water on our block, I think it is also clear to see the path our love can take in our lives.

Water brings life to the vegetation around it – just like it’s mentioned in this Ezekiel passage – and our behaviours can bring life to the people we meet. If we share positive values of love, grace and peace then those attributes will grow in others too.

Our aim in being Christlike is to spread Christ’s love to those we meet. May people be able to see our path by its fruitfulness in others.

Prayer: Lord, may my path be a benefit to others. May people be nourished by the life that I share with them. Amen.

How well are you watering other people’s lives?
