In reality all she gave me was paper and sugar.
Reference: “Yet I will show love to Judah; and I will save them—not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but I, the Lord their God, will save them.”” Hosea 1:7 NIV
Explore: We’ve recently been through a challenging time and one of my colleagues found out. Without making a big deal of it she bought me a card with beautiful words in it and some caramel slice.
In reality all she gave me was paper and sugar. However, the meaning behind the gift was love, care and support.
These special gifts, given by an unexpected friend, has consoled me greatly through a trying time.
Application: When we go through a trial we are often surprised at where we receive support and what brings us meaning.
When God told Hosea He would save Judah, He mentioned it wouldn’t be in the way the nation would expect. God shows up in our lives every single day, but it’s not always in the way we would expect.
It’s important to be open to seeing God in the unexpected places.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being on our side. May we notice You in the everyday as well as in the unexpected places. Amen.
Where have you seen God this week?
