A wingman gives you confidence and courage
Reference: “Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them walked on.” 2 Kings 2:6 NIV
Explore: It’s always nice to have a wingman. Whether you’re heading out for social event or attending a work function, it’s nice to have a friend to share the journey.
A good wingman will stay with you the whole way through. A bad wingman will wander off once they find something more exciting to them.
A wingman gives you confidence and courage to engage with people you wouldn’t necessarily connect with.
Application: I don’t mind talking to people, but as someone who is slightly introverted I always feel more comfortable with someone to share the journey with.
In 2 Kings 2 Elijah shares his journey with Elisha. Even when Elijah went to go on alone Elisha dedicated himself to always follow.
I have a couple of great people in my life who stick by me and give me courage. But they’re not always around.
That’s when I’m reminded that I have the ultimate wingman – God. He is always there with me no matter what the context of the journey.
He is there to give us courage, to remind us we are worthy and to instill confidence in who we are. All we have to do is allow Him to join us for the journey.
Prayer: Lord, give me the confidence to speak in Your name. May I stand proudly beside You as you instill in me a life-changing courage. Amen.
