The Truth Behind The Bachelor

You certainly get to see some interesting personalities.

John 8:21-30

Explore: I was recently watching The Bachelor TV show with a friend. This is a reality TV program where a guy meets 20 ladies to see if he would like to have a long term relationship with one of them.

Over the course of many weeks he gradually whittles the number of women down to one. But as you journey through those weeks of decisions you certainly get to see some interesting personalities.

As I’m not a regular viewer I didn’t know much about the girls on the show. However, I soon got to see those who were fair and those who were just out to get in front, no matter what the price.

When the ladies were distracted and had forgotten about the cameras you got to see their true colours.

Application: While I would never want to put myself through that particular show, I think if a camera followed me around 24/7 you might see a different picture to what I write about on this blog! We all have parts of our lives that we need to keep honing and working on.

When Jesus walked on the earth He was constantly scrutinised and judged for his words and His actions. His life was watched so closely that people are still analysing it and writing about it!

Yet, He maintained His integrity and was consistent with the words of His Father.

I know Jesus is God and all-powerful, but I think this would have been a challenge for Him. When He looked around at the hypocrisy of the people and yet they were questioning Him! He did well to hold His tongue in some situations!

My life is not perfect and I still need to work on my integrity, but this should be a life goal we all strive for. May we be more like Jesus and be true in everything we say and do.

Prayer: Lord, help me to maintain my integrity in everything I do and say. Amen.

How would you compare when it comes to maintaining your integrity with words and actions?
