The strength of the Spirit

God can do more in one minute than we can do in a lifetime

Zechariah 4.1-14

Reference: v. 6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty." (NIV Bible)

Explore: Zerubbabel was proclaimed the 'signet ring ' of the Lord. What an incredibly special honor. At yet here we read that the Lord says to him: Although you have been given this incredible honor, although you may already be special in my eyes, you must remember that it is not through your strength that you will build my temple but through my Spirit.

Application: How often we also need that reminder! Whenever I'm in trouble I always seem to do everything within my own strength to fix it and then when all else fails, I call on the name of the Lord. Such the wrong way of going about it! It's like having a saw in your hands but you try to cut down a tree using your fingernails.
Our God is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He can do all things and invites us to also do all things… THROUGH HIM! Not in our own strength but through the Spirit who prompts us and guides us. May we also look for that prompting and do all things according to God's purpose.

Prayer: Lord, I know that you are so much greater than I but I can get so stubborn sometimes. I will try harder today to rely on you. Amen.
