I’m far from cutting edge when it comes to current clothing
Reference: v.29 “He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.” (TNIV Bible)
Explore: I have never really been one to keep up with fashion. I like to look good but I’m far from cutting edge when it comes to current clothing.
In fact, when a new fashion style comes out my first reaction is usually to reject the look. I don’t find the look appealing and will inwardly shake my head at the crazy combination of clothes.
Yet, a couple of weeks in I’ll start warming to the ideas. Every day people will start donning the look and I’ll get used to style.
Sure enough, within a couple of months of the new fashion hitting the shelves, I’ll start incorporating it into my wardrobe. I’ll bring in the new clothes, the new combinations and the new way of wearing the style.
I’m never leading the way with fashion however I’ve learned that I will often change my mind a couple of months in.
Application: While it doesn’t make a huge difference to my world whether I change my mind on fashion or not, I do need to watch changing my mind so easily on deeper issues.
If I become flippant with love, integrity and mercy then I can start moving away from who God has called me to be.
Fortunately for me, I worship a God who is unchanging from one day to the next. That way, if I ever doubt who God is now I can look in the Bible and remind myself of his faithfulness, endurance, patience, forgiveness and love.
While I may waver from day to day, our God is never-failing.
Prayer: Lord, Your love never falters for all of humanity. May we continue to strive to serve you and others each and every day. Amen.
When do you find yourself falter?
