I ended up just sitting there with my mouth gaping open!

Explore: PowerPoint presentations were just starting to be taught when I was in high school. It won’t be surprising to hear they have improved a great deal in the last 20 years!
I was recently visiting a friend of mine who had teenage children and they proudly showed me their recent homework assignment. As it was a presentation on the computer I gathered around their screen to observe their work.
To be honest, I was all prepared to ohh and ahh at their work no matter what they showed me – I feel encouragement is very important and often lacking in our education. However, I ended up just sitting there with my mouth gaping open!
The variety of media they inserted into their presentation with images and text zooming in and out was outstanding. Their animation was done with perfection and I sat there gob smacked.
It is clear to say that not only has PowerPoint progressed, but so too has the understanding and abilities of our teenagers.
Application: There is no doubt that age brings greater wisdom and understanding, but we must not close ourselves off from being taught new things. There is always something more we can learn and I am often surprised at who gives me the teaching.
I’m impressed that King David had this attitude too. He was the head of his empire and one of the greatest army commanders ever to live.
But when it came to listening to the wisdom of his subordinates he was not shy to heed their advice.
May we be the same in our own lives. Let’s not be closed to learning new things and not hesitate to listen to many different voices.
Prayer: Lord God, You are the fount of all wisdom. May we be open to hear Your voice. Amen.
When was the last thing you learned?
