It was truly breathtaking.
Reference: You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. (Psalm 104:6 NIV)
Explore: I was recently fortunate enough to fly over the mountains of Nepal. I’m not usually one to ask to move seats in a plane, however, I was very keen to sit by the window on this day.
I was transfixed as I looked straight down and noticed all the villages situated along the ridges of the mountains. There was always one road that led from that village, along the mountain top, to the next village.
Then I would look further out to see the whole mountain range. The layers of mountains right back to the snow capped peaks of the tallest ones.
It was truly breathtaking.
Application: When I am transfixed by creation I can’t help but reflect on God, the One who put it all into place. It is a moment of worship.
It’s no wonder the psalmist took time to write Psalm 104. What a glorious portrayal of all that God has created.
As I read through the psalm it spoke of the mountains, the sea, the animal and the stars. I thought of many occasions when I marvelled at God’s amazing works.
It’s a good reminder to us of how great our God is. And it’s a challenge for us to look out for His greatness in our everyday.
Prayer: Lord, You declare Your glory in every new sunrise. May we never stop marvelling at the works of Your hands. Amen.
What part of creation reminds you of God’s wonder?
