I was recently reading a story from Humankind Stories. These are positive tales of everyday people doing incredible things.
This particular story was about a husband and wife who had been married for 45 years. This was incredible enough but the story goes on.
A few years ago the wife had a stroke. While age had recovered well she had lost some mobility in her body.
After getting her hair cut and styled at a salon she was disappointed the next day when she couldn’t get her hair looking as good. Her husband clearly loved his wife dearly for what he did next is remarkable.
He booked another appointment at the salon with the hairdresser who had styled his wife’s hair. He then took her to the appointment where he had organised for the hairdresser to teach him how to blow dry his wife’s hair properly and just how she liked it.
What an incredible act of love. This man didn’t just have pity on his wife, he did something about and took it upon himself to be able to help her every single day.
It’s so encouraging when we hear of these acts of incredible love. People who aren’t just looking for a quick fix or stepping back for someone else to help out. These people are actively pursuing assistance for others and willing to sacrifice their own time and money to make it happen.
What a great reminder that we are all built in God’s image and we are all created to love. If God is love and He created us then we can’t help but have a desire to love and be loved.
Let’s show this world more incredible acts of love. And in doing so shine God’s light in the darkest of places.
Lord, thank you for your example of incredible love. May we strive to show others how great Your love really is. Amen.
When have you experienced incredible love?
