The Game Cheat

It doesn’t matter how many hours I spend trying to conquer the game, there are some levels I just can’t get through…

Esther 8:1-17

Explore: I’m not a big one for electronic games, but if I do find a game I enjoy, I like to stick at it and progress all the way through the levels.  There are some games where the higher levels just seem impossible.  It doesn’t matter how many hours I spend trying to conquer the game, there are some levels I just can’t get through… that is, until I find the game cheat.  The cheat gives you a special password so that you are basically invincible.  It doesn’t matter what the game throws at you, the cheat can help you through any level.

Application: When King Xerxes realized the mistake he had made by allowing Haman to have authority over the Jews, he handed his authority over to Mordecai.  Mordecai went from thinking he was going to be murdered one day, to having the authority to save all the people of his nation the next.  When Mordecai had the king’s power behind him it was like he had received a game cheat.  Suddenly things just seemed to fall into place.  There are times when our lives seem so difficult.  It’s like there is a level that we just can’t seem to get past.  And yet, we need to remind ourselves that we have the ultimate ‘game cheat’.  We have the power of the Creator of the Universe behind us.  That is stronger than any earthly king’s power and gives us more assurance than any life-saving cheat in a game.

Prayer: Lord, may we rely on your power to see us through all the difficult levels in our life.  Amen.
