Why don’t I live like this all the time?
Reference: “Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!” Psalm 147:1 NIV
Explore: I’ve recently cleaned up my eating and started jogging again. I’m such a yo-yo dieter that this happens every couple of years!
Within a couple of days I was already feeling much better. I had more energy, more confidence and a sense of pride.
The question I had to ask myself was, “If this makes me feel so good, why don’t I live like this all the time?!”
Application: Our human nature to fall back into the easy path, the lazy attitude and the complacent actions is hard to combat. All too often we know what is right, but choose something else.
People who don’t follow God look at faith like it is restrictive. They can’t understand why we would subject ourselves to having to follow so many rules.
But we know it’s not like that. Worshipping God is like going on a health kick – it gives us a spiritual energy, more confidence in our future and a sense of pride to be a child of God.
May we not take the easy path but commit to following God with all our lives.
Prayer: Lord, forgive us when we choose the lesser path instead of following You. Thank You for the blessing You bring to us when we commit our lives to You. Amen.
When have you taken the easy path?
