The details take time to write
Reference: “Join five of the curtains together into one set and the other six into another set. Fold the sixth curtain double at the front of the tent.” Exodus 26:9 NIV
Explore: A friend of mine made some delicious cookies for me. When I asked her for the recipe she diligently wrote it out for me.
The simple instructions would be “mix the wet ingredients together; mix the dry ingredients together; mix wet and dry ingredients together. Bake cookie shaped pieces for 10 mins.”
But to anyone who has had to write out a recipe before, you know it’s not that easy. You have to list all the ingredients, be more specific as to what to add when and then give the exact details of mixing and baking.
The details take time to write and can be a bit arduous to go through. But they are worth it when you’re not sure what to do. The details make the food come out the way it should.
Application: When God was giving Moses instructions on how to live and worship He was quite specific. In fact, I read through the latter chapters of Exodus and almost wish God was that detailed with me today!
It’s a good reminder that God is interested in the detail. He desires for us to live in the best possible way.
In all things He leaves us to our own choice. But it’s good to have guidance and wisdom when it comes to making life decisions.
Prayer: Lord, may we heed Your instructions. Give us Your wisdom as we obey Your ways. Amen.
What instructions do you find important to follow for your faith?
