The Choice Is Yours

The decisions seem to get progressively more difficult.

Joshua 24:1-3321

Reference: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”” Joshua‬ ‭24:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: We are all given a choice.

As children our choices seem more limited. There are always people older than you who have the power to make a decision for you. But even still we choose how to behave and how to respond.

As we get older we get to choose subjects at school and we start to determine the direction of our future through our study decisions. And then as an adult the decisions seem to get progressively more difficult.

How do you invest your money? Where do you live? Who do you marry? What job do you accept? How do you discipline your children? What care facility do you choose for your parents?

I find the hardest choices are those that impact upon other people and not just myself.

Application: A key decision we make every single day is how do we follow God?

Choosing God is not a given. You no doubt know many people who have chosen a different path.

But, seeing as though you are reading this devotion, it’s likely you have made the choice to follow God.

Through the stories you have heard, as well as the God-encounters you have experienced, you have decided to choose God.

Well done. Good choice!

And so, every single day we get to recommit that choice by our actions and our words. Every day brings an opportunity to serve and every day we get to make that choice to commit to Him.

Prayer: Lord, everyday You choose us. Each day You choose to love us, to offer us grace and to commune with us. May we make the same wise choices in our lives. Amen.

How are you choosing to follow God today?
