Thankyou Water

You may not think that you can have a huge impact on our world, but I believe that you can.

Exodus 38:1-31

Reference: v.26 one beka per person, that is, half a shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, from everyone who had crossed over to those counted, twenty years old or more, a total of 603,550 men. (TNIV Bible)

Explore: A few years ago an incredible couple, Dan and Justine, had a huge dream. They wanted to change the world by providing clean drinking water for developing nations.

They did their research and realised that while the bottled water industry was bringing in millions of dollars every year, there were millions of people who did not have access to clean water on a daily basis.

This triggered the idea of Thankyou Water. A bottle of water that gives a percentage of its profit to provide wells, biofilters, pipelines and water tanks in developing communities.

Already they have fully funded a number of communities, and it’s inspiring to see what else they will accomplish as “Thankyou Water” is stocked in 7Elevens and other convenience stores.

Application: While the “Thankyou Water” idea is being championed by a couple of people, we can see the impact that is being made by so many people just purchasing a $2 bottle of water.

This was the same when it came to building the worship areas of the Israelites. There were a number of people who were leading the project, and yet with everyone contributing their ‘beka’ of silver, it amounted to a huge amount of material to work with.

You may not think that you can have a huge impact on our world, but I believe that you can. You don’t have to be like “Thankyou Water’s” Dan and Justine, or even like Moses who led the Israelites out of Egypt. But you CAN be one of the people who brings a ‘beka’ of love, grace, money, and time to anything that you are passionate about.

If you, and everyone else around you, contributed just a small amount of time and money to the needs that cross your path then our world would truly be a better place.

Prayer: Lord God, we are so blessed with all we have. May we hold loosely to the things that we own and be generous with all that we have. Amen.

What need could you contribute to?
