A truly impressive performer can draw a crowd and then silence it with their talent.
Reference: Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. (Psalm 46:6 NIV)
Explore: I’m not a big fan of reality talent shows, but I always like seeing highlight packages of surprise acts. The shy, uncomfortable presence on stage who ends out belting out a perfect operatic song, the small girl who sings with maturity far beyond her years, and the boy band lookalike who leaves us gobsmacked as they lead us through a Les Mis classic.
While I’m not a brilliant singer, I appreciate a beautiful voice. It can have the power to stop people in their tracks.
A truly impressive performer can draw a crowd and then silence it with their talent.
Application: When I think of all the incredible voices that I have heard over my short life, I wonder what the voice of their Creator is like.
In Psalm 46 it says that voice can melt the earth. From history we have heard that God’s voice can bring dead bones back to life, it can divide the sea, and it can send people on the greatest mission of their lives.
If a human’s voice can have power and influence, imagine what God’s can do!
The great thing is that we don’t have to wait until heaven to experience God’s voice. We can hear his tones through other people, through His creation, and through the prompting He places in our own hearts. Let’s be open to what God’s majestic voice is saying to us today.
Prayer: Lord, may we use our voice as a channel of Your love and influence. Amen.
How can you use your voice to declare God’s glory today?
