Snug As A Bug In A Rug

Even when it is a hot summer’s evening they will always answer with a resounding YES! 

Psalm 139:1-24

Explore: When I was young I remember my mum coming to tuck me into bed. In the heart of winter she would see me wrapped up under all my blankets and say that I looked “as snug as a bug in a rug.”

As with all good motherly sayings, I have now started saying the same thing to my boys. Before they go to sleep I will ask them, “Would you like to be as snug as a bug in a rug?” Even when it is a hot summer’s evening they will always answer with a resounding YES! I will then take the sheets and tuck them all the way around their body saying,

“Now you are as snug as a bug in a rug.”

They love the feeling of being all wrapped up, safe and secure, surrounded by their sheets.

Application: There are times in my life when I just want to curl up into bed and be as snug as a bug in a rug. Life can sometimes feel a little crazy and I just want to be safe and secure, surrounded by everything I know and love.

Psalm 139 reminds me that I have that security in God. He totally surrounds me with His love and comfort, especially when life is tough.
