Shed Work

So you may be asking, why am I in the shed?

Hosea 8:1-14

Reference: Israel cries out to me, ‘Our God, we acknowledge you!’ (Hosea 8:2 NIV)

Explore: I’m currently writing this blog from the shed in my back yard. It’s not because it’s a nice shed, because that would be far from the truth.

It’s not because I’m trying to escape the chaos of my house. While that is usually the case, it’s actually very early in the morning and everyone is still asleep.

It’s not because the temperature is better in the shed because it’s the middle of winter and I’m freezing out here! So you may be asking, why am I in the shed?

Well, I’m locked in! I got up early to do some exercise down here on my boxing bag and I must have closed the door too firmly so that the latch flicked over the hook again.

I have tried to make contact with the outside world. I have called mobiles, our landline, I’ve text messaged the neighbour, and I’ve messaged my husband on Facebook. No one is answering!

Is there anyone out there?

Application: And so I decided to read my bible on my phone. I wonder if Hosea felt like me.

He had an important message to tell, yet no one was listening. He told the people over and over again, in lots of different ways, that they should turn back to God, but no one was listening.

I will not give up trying to communicate with the outside world. Neither should I give up trying to tell the world to turn to God. It’s an important message that God didn’t just ask Hosea to tell.

Prayer: Lord, there is no greater message we can give to our world than to tell them that You love them. May we never shy away from proclaiming You. Amen.

What can you do to tell this message?
