Seeing Us Differently

I do hope that when people hear our story they are inspired to help others

Ezekiel 24:1-27

Reference: So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the Lord. (Ezekiel 24:27b)
Explore: When people first find out that we are foster carers, they instantly view us differently. No longer are we just your stereotypical family with a couple of children, but we are a couple who have taken on someone else’s children to give them a safe upbringing.
Cameron, my husband, and I often laugh. We know how flawed we are and how difficult the role can be, so we certainly don’t feel that we deserve the respect that complete strangers automatically give to us.
However, the positive part of this instant appreciation is that I hope people are inspired by what we do. If we are able to help out children in need, then anyone can make a difference in their world too.
This isn’t why we foster, and it certainly doesn’t make our job any easier, but I do hope that when people hear our story they are inspired to help others.
Application: When Ezekiel went through a great loss, the people around him wondered what the point was. But he was able to show them that his experience was an example to them.
Each of our lives can be an example to someone else. The choices we make and how we respond to situations can show others what it is to live a Godly life.
It’s not always easy, but we can have an impact just by how we live our lives.
Prayer: Lord, our lives can often be challenging. Help us to have integrity in every situation so that we can declare Your message of love and hope to all those around us. Amen.
What have you learned from another persons life?
