Searching For Comfort

It’s the place I want to be when I hit a crisis

Psalm 27:1-14

Reference: “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.” Psalm‬ ‭27:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: There is something about my mother’s presence in times of need.

I’m now in my late thirties but every time I feel sick or hit a crisis the place I want to be is in my mother’s arms. All those years of caring for me as a child has made me feel comforted and secure in her presence.

It’s nice to know there is a place for me to go.

The challenge I face is that my mother is thirty years older than me. The reality is that she won’t always be around. Who will I go to then?

Application: The writer of Psalm 27 reminds us of the One who is always there for us. No matter who we are, what our upbringing is or who we have in our lives, God is always there.

When we come into His presence He will shelter us.

You don’t have to be perfect, you don’t even have to have been brought up by amazing parents, it is God who can offer a comfort no one else on earth can provide.

When trials come and challenges push us to our limits, turn to God. He offers a peace and understanding we cannot find anywhere else.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for always being there for us. May we welcome Your presence at all times and desire to be with You always. Amen.

When have you experienced God’s comfort and care?
