My mother-in-law recently witnessed one of our little boys coming into our home. He loves my husband so much that as soon as he enters the front door he searches him out.
When he finds him his whole face lights up and he goes running into his arms.
He doesn’t stop to ask if the time is right. He doesn’t check the house for any other guests. His mind is just fixed on finding my husband.
My mother-in-law thought this was how we should approach God. And she makes a good point.
So often we hesitate to run to God. We try to work things out on our own first. We wait until it’s the most perfect time before we allow ourselves some designated time with God. And often when we come together in worship we come hesitantly, holding ourselves back to make sure we are being socially appropriate.
If we are so passionate and focussed on God we would be more like our little boy. Without even thinking of how other people would judge us we just run into the arms of God. No wonder Jesus told us we should have faith like a child.
Lord, You have given us so much. May we run to You as much as we can. You are our home. Amen.
How have you approached God lately?
