Our actions are the best ways we can evangelize

2 Kings 15:1-38

Reference: “He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. During his entire reign he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.” ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭15:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: There are some people I meet that just exude God’s love. Like my friend Ruby. She’s always looking out for other people, she’s generous with her time and her resources and she always finds a way to encourage people.

She doesn’t notice it but people see a difference in Ruby. They are inspired by her generous heart and are thankful for being a recipient of her love.

Do you know someone like that? When you are around them you want to be more like them and they lead you to be a better person.

Application: The Bible says that people will know we are Jesus’ disciples by our love. Our actions are the best way we can evangelise and tell people what it is like to follow God.

Unfortunately people are often more swayed by things of this world. If they didn’t feel better when they followed earthy things then they wouldn’t bother.

In 2 Kings we hear of many kings following the evil ways their predecessors did. They must have felt it gave them a step ahead to do so.

The world will always seem enticing but what a great responsibility we have to show how God’s ways are better.

We don’t have to go out on a street corner or even to the other side of the world. The people who will see the difference in our lives the most are those who are right beside us.

Prayer: Lord, it is easy for us to go about our own selfish ways, but that is not Your way. May we commit to Your ways, not just for our own benefit but so that others will know how great You are. Amen.

When have you recently seen God’s love in another?
