1 Kings 6.19-38

Explore: I have some cousins whose house is like a piece of artwork. The way they have remodelled their 1970s home is outstanding. From the extended decking on the second storey to the colour of the feature wall in the living room, every thing has been specifically chosen and designed to fit the style of each space. From my position as an interior-decorating-challenged person, I stand in awe. Some people are so gifted in creating a beautiful space.
Solomon created a beautiful space for the ark of the covenant in the inner sanctuary. The detail that is listed in this sixth chapter of 1 Kings is amazing in itself. In comparison to the dusty cobbled streets outside, this room would have seemed like a piece of majestic heaven.
Application: We all have gifts and talents. It doesn’t matter if it’s in art, sport, science, or literature we can all create some form of beauty on this planet. If we are following Jesus then our work is dedicated to Him, howevcr even if someone isn’t following Jesus we can still see His beauty in their craft. All beauty is a reflection of God. Nothing on earth will ever be able to completely sum up the majesty of our Creator. However, each time we see something of beauty it is like seeing another reflected image of our truly amazing God.
Prayer: Creator God, You have made all things beautiful. May we see your majesty in the beauty of your creation today. Amen.
Where have you seen God’s beauty reflected lately?
