Proof In the Photos

I wondered why my cousin would post these photos on line.

Ezekiel 33:1-33

Reference: Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves. (Ezekiel 33:5 NIV)

Explore: My cousin recently posted some shocking photos on her facebook page. They were of her son, who is about seven years old.

The first photo that took me by surprise was her son with a huge sore in his mouth, and then the next was his black eye with a scratched face. The poor little man looked so unhappy and I wondered why my cousin would post these photos online.

Then I read the description: “Why we don’t skate without a helmet.”

Ah, that old hard lesson to learn! I’m not sure whether my cousin was telling her friends about her son’s unfortunate accident or whether this was a good chance to emphasize the lesson that had just been learned.

There is no doubt that my cousin had set the rule of wearing a helmet when skating, and her intelligent son would have known the rule. However, there are times when we choose to ignore the warning, and the result can be devastating.

Application: Thankfully for my cousin’s son, he will heal and move on. But there are times when we don’t heed the warning and the consequences can be so much worse.

God is very clear with people. He doesn’t often leave much to the imagination when He addresses basic right and wrong.

And to be honest, we usually know what is right, it’s just often that bit harder and so we choose another path.

Let’s not be like those He addresses in Ezekiel, who received the warning but did nothing. May we be proactive in our own lives, striving to live as God has taught us.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the way You teach us and guide us. May we heed Your advice and live according to Your will. Amen.

What advice is God giving you right now?

And….. Proverbs 27:12 says:
The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and suffer for it.

Thanks for posting Linda.
