Proclaiming Expectations

Because this was beyond my expectation I felt under prepared

Joshua 3:1-17

Reference: “Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”” ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: The right expectation can give you clarity; the wrong expectation brings discontent.

I was recently asked to do an additional job. I was told it would be easy and most of the work would be done for me. How foolish I was to believe this!

While some of the work was provided, I was still required to drive the project and come up with ideas outside my sphere of influence. Because this was beyond my expectation I felt under prepared and like I was on the back foot at every turn.

Application: Joshua was great at setting expectation amongst the nation. In Joshua 3 he tells everyone to be prepared because God was going to do something amazing.

What an incredible expectation to prepare the nation with. And God certainly came through with the goods.

The great thing about Joshua was, he spoke about the Lord’s amazing deeds before God confirmed what He would do.

How often do we wait for God to act before we show our faith and trust in Him? Not Joshua. He was such a man of faith that he proclaimed God’s amazing deeds even before God made mention of them.

We worship the same God today. He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ever imagine. Let’s speak faith into our day today, into our tomorrow and into our future.

“The Lord will do amazing things among you!” Are you ready for Him?

Prayer: Lord, we humble ourselves before You acknowledging that You are truly powerful and able to do amazing things. May we look for Your amazing works and have faith they exist even before we see them. Amen.

What amazing works will God do in your life?
