A Private Word From God
She hears from God every single day
Reference: Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. (Luke 10:23 NIV)
Explore: It seems that God talks to us all in different ways with different frequency. A colleague was telling me about a decision she had to make recently and she mentioned that her word from God that day hadn’t made sense to her.
It wasn’t God’s word that baffled me, but rather the idea she hears from God every single day. I mean, I know I could listen to a sermon or read a passage of scripture each day and get something out of it, but I have to admit I only really feel I’ve heard directly from God a couple of times in my life.
Application: There is a great deal of wisdom we can gain from other people’s words as well as the words we read, but let’s not forget to put time aside to allow God to speak to us directly.
Jesus spoke words to the crowds, as well as privately to His disciples. He wants to continue communicating with us too.
Sometimes it’s a matter of patience but often we don’t hear from God because we’re too busy filling our lives with other voices. It’s often worthwhile for us to be still to hear from God.
Prayer: Lord, may I take this time to hear from You… Amen.
