The President of the United States of America

When people rise to positions of power and fame we tend to forget they would still struggle with similar feelings and fears to the rest of us.

Psalm 69:1-36

Reference: Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters. (‭Psalm‬ ‭69‬:‭14‬ NIV)

Explore: We’re currently watching a TV show that looks behind the scenes of the US President. While the show is fictional and purely written for entertainment drama, it is a reminder that things are not always as they seem.

Although the US President holds much power and is chosen for his wisdom and leadership, there is no doubt he would struggle with disappointment, grief, relationships and pain. Remember, he is still human!

Application: When people rise to positions of power and fame we tend to forget they would still struggle with similar feelings and fears to the rest of us. It’s the same with the more popular Biblical figures too.

David has many stories to his name. Child prodigy, chosen by God, mighty warrior, just king, loving father… While we may recall that he fell from grace, the Psalms highlight a man who was in a constant battle.

His enemies always seemed close and he often struggled to see God. Sound familiar? I love how human David is as it shows God calls all of us, no matter how broken we are, to trust Him.

Challenges will come and go, and there are times when we may struggle to see God in it all, but David’s life reminds us He is there for us and will carry us through.

Prayer: Lord, may I call out to You like David. No matter what responsibility I may bear, I will strive to rely on You. Amen.

Are you able to see God through your struggles?
