How To Be Popular

With these non-negotiables, I was never going to be popular.

Galatians 5:1-12

Reference: For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. (Galatians 5:6 NIV)

Explore: In High School I just wanted to be considered cool. I’d wear my socks the right way, say the “in” words, and listen to the trendy music. But in the end, it seems, I just didn’t cut it.

It wasn’t that I was bullied or friendless, I just didn’t have the right look or attitude to be with the cool kids. I wasn’t gorgeous, I didn’t flaunt my wealth, and I refused to lower my values for the sake of popularity.

With these non-negotiables, I was never going to be popular. Thankfully for me, God doesn’t accept us based on our earthly popularity!

Application: Ever since Christ was risen, humans have been trying to find ways to make themselves pleasing to God. But it doesn’t matter how many bible studies we attend or how much we tithe, God has already accepted us.

Do you know that? I mean, it’s likely that you know it in your head but do you live your life like that?

When the popular kids walked through the playground they strutted as if they owned the place. Our knowledge of God’s acceptance should give us courage too. Not to show arrogance but to show love.

If we truly understood what God’s acceptance meant, even though we don’t deserve it, we would be prompted to love like no other. So, through Christ’s love, we are accepted by God. With this understanding, love others with all that you are.

Prayer: Lord, it’s easy for us to hear that we are accepted, but to truly believe that and live by that is different. May the true understanding of God’s love for us sink deeply into our being so that we can live and love for Him. Amen.

Do you really understand that God has accepted you?
