God knows we’re more receptive to Him when we are at a point of desperation.
Reference: The word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, by the Kebar River in the land of the Babylonians. There the hand of the Lord was on him. (Ezekiel 1:3 NIV)
Explore: After listening to many testimonies, it seems that people often get clarity from God when they’re in their lowest moments. I almost feel that God knows we’re more receptive to Him when we are at a point of desperation.
I don’t believe that God creates the times of suffering just to get through to us. But during times of turmoil we need His assistance more than ever.
Application: When Ezekiel started hearing from God he was in exile. He had been banished from his home and separated from many of his people.
It was at this time that God revealed himself to Ezekiel and lifted him up to be His prophet. It was then that God gave him one of His most important jobs, to be His voice to a broken nation.
We don’t need to be perfect for God to use us. We don’t have to have it all together before we approach our Lord.
No matter what you’re going through or where you’re at in life, never stop reaching out for God. You’ll be surprised when God chooses to draw near and to bring you to your greatest calling.
Prayer: Lord, when suffering covers us we want to withdraw from everything. Help us to lean into You and be willing to hear Your voice in our pain. Amen.
When have you experienced God’s closeness?
