A Pink Tutu

Bob loved his wife so much he was willing to do anything to cheer her up.

Explore: When Bob Carey’s wife was diagnosed with cancer there were many mixed emotions, mainly involving pain and grief. However, Bob loved his wife so much he was willing to do anything to cheer her up… even wear a pink tutu!

Bob started taking photos of himself in different locations wearing nothing but a pink tutu. His photos helped him to express how he was feeling, as well as putting a smile on his wife’s face.

The Tutu Project has now taken off and after a book launch, Bob and his wife are raising funds to put a smile on other people’s faces as they deal with cancer.

Application: It makes me feel warm inside knowing that Bob loved his wife so much that he was willing to put his own pride aside to make her smile. He wanted to turn her pain into laughter and he would go to any lengths to make that happen.

We may not have a Bob Carey in our lives, but we do have a Heavenly Father who went to even greater lengths to turn our suffering into joy. God has always been there for His people and since Jesus walked on this earth we have an even better understanding of how far He will go for us.

Bob Carey and his wife still experience pain. In fact, after conquering cancer, Bob’s wife discovered it had returned again.

A feeling of joy does not last forever. We need to be constantly reminded of happiness and love. Thankfully we have a God who is available 24/7. He is forever the bringer of joy and encourages us to do likewise.

Prayer: Lord, You are a constant source of joy. When the world brings us down, may it be You whom we seek. Amen.

How can you bring joy to someone’s day today?
