Party Like It’s 1999

She was filled with expectation at all the celebrations that would happen.

Luke 15:1-7

Reference: I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. (‭Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭7‬ NIV)

Explore: I love the thought of rejoicing in Heaven.

I’ve noticed that every family celebrates things differently. A friend at work was telling me that her husband never made a big deal about birthdays.

This was never a big concern to her, even though she loved to go all out, because her family always made a big deal. This made her feel special and joyful.

She then moved to another country, away from her family. The next birthday she had she was filled with expectation at all the celebrations that would happen.

However, because she was away from her family, and her husband had never done much for her birthday, she was bitterly disappointed. The reality of how her husband celebrated events soon became very clear.

Application: I wonder how God celebrates things. Does He have fireworks and tables laden with food? Or does He acknowledge every guest with love and thanksgiving?

However it happens I like the thought that it does actually occur. People often think Heaven will be boring but there are a number of mentions in the Bible about rejoicing occurring in Heaven.

I’m looking forward to experiencing that level of joy.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for showing us how to celebrate and appreciate the important things in our lives now. May we share Your joy here on earth with those who may not know Heaven yet. Amen.

What do you think heaven’s rejoicing will be like?
