It always amazes me how people respond to you differently when you’re holding this type of equipment.
Reference: They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority. (Luke 4:32 NIV)
Explore: We own a SLR camera. These are the type of cameras that have different lenses on the front and you can change them over depending on what kind of photo you are wanting to take.
My husband has used this camera for a number of professional shoots, but we also use it at special occasions.
It always amazes me how people respond to you differently when you’re holding this type of equipment. If we’re at a wedding there are times when there’s a whole group of people jostled together, trying to take a photo of the happy couple. Although I might be just one member of this crowd, people will look at my camera and let me through to the front.
Clearly if I have a top quality camera, then I will take a top quality photo and need to be in a better position! I can’t lie, sometimes it really works to my advantage!
Application: Jesus had an impact on the people around Him for many different reasons. Sometimes it was the miracles He performed, sometimes it was the people He associated with, and often it was what He said.
People are impacted by our words. They can break down barriers and give us an opportunity to speak into even more people’s lives.
A big camera can get you to the front of a crowd, and often our meaningful words can get us into the hearts of people who need to hear more about Christ. Let us not back down from the opportunity to speak and may we be diligent in planning what we would say if the opportunity arose.
Prayer: Lord, may we have the courage to speak words of love and faith as we direct more people to You. Amen.
What would you say if someone asked you why you believe?
