Notre Dame Cathedral

It’s hard to believe it was built 8 centuries ago.

Psalm 113:1-9

Reference: From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. (‭Psalm‬ ‭113‬:‭3‬ NIV)

Explore: Notre Dame cathedral is an incredible piece of architectural artwork. It’s structure is exquisite and it’s hard to believe it was built 8 centuries ago.

I heard recently that while they were constructing this amazing building they did a case study on the workers.

When asked what each worker was doing there was one of three responses given:
1. “I’m carving a stone into shape”
2. “I’m building a great cathedral”
3. “I’m dedicating my life to the glory of God.”

Each worker had a similar task, but their purposes were poles apart.

Application: We can be the same as we live out our own lives. What are you doing in life?
1. “I’m going to work.”
2. “I’m providing for my family.”
3. “I’m building the Kingdom of God.”

Which category does your life fall into?

The Psalmist speaks of praising God from the very start of the day until it is complete. We can choose to just go through the motions of each day or really dedicate our lives to bringing Him glory.

Prayer: Lord, You have given each of us the same air to breathe and the same opportunity to connect to You. May we not waste an opportunity to live totally sold to You. Amen.

How would you rate your purpose in life?
