He will chat to anyone who will listen for more than 10 seconds!
Reference: But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’ Whoever will listen let them listen, and whoever will refuse let them refuse; for they are a rebellious people. (Ezekiel 3:27 NIV)
Explore: I have a six year old who never stops talking, like never! I thought my husband was chatty enough but our six year old takes the cake.
We notice this particularly in the car. When we’ve been driving for thirty minutes and we realise that Mr.6 has not stopped talking the entire time, it’s then that we realise how much that boy can talk.
When we meet someone new it doesn’t take long for them to be included in on the conversation. Mr.6 will ask a couple of questions and then he has them hooked. He will chat to anyone who will listen for more than 10 seconds!
While this can drive his family batty, it’s a very friendly and inclusive behaviour to have. And even I have learned some conversation skills from our young boy.
Application: While I would say that I’m reasonable at making conversation, there are some things that I struggle to bring up. I still feel uncomfortable bringing up the idea of faith, even though it’s so important to me personally.
There are times when I need to put my discomfort aside and see that God’s majesty is more helpful to talk about than the weather.
I like that Ezekiel was instructed to proclaim the Godly way to go and it was up to the people whether they listened or not. His responsibility was to speak up.
We can’t make people listen, but we can choose whether we say something or not.
Prayer: Lord, your Word speaks wisdom and love. Help our words to be aligned with Yours and may we never remain quiet when it comes to telling the world about You. Amen.
When have you spoken out for God?
